Whether it’s dark and moody techno or uplifting trance and progressive house, dance music’s meteoric rise all over the globe showed no signs of slowing down in 2017.

Mixcloud is not only home to the most successful dance DJs and selectors in the world, but it’s also a community of talented and emerging stars hoping to be the next-generation’s Carl Cox or Above & Beyond.

But which top 10 dance profiles did we spend the most minutes listening to on Mixcloud in 2017? Read below to find out.

10. Don Diablo

With a highly-anticipated album due in 2018, Don Diablo has fast-become one of the leading figures in the global EDM movement.

His weekly show ‘Hexagon Radio’ has reached its 150th episode, a deserving milestone for one of the busiest DJs on the circuit today.

9. Above & Beyond

Described by DJ Magazine as “the biggest DJ/production collective the UK has ever produced”, Above & Beyond have cemented their reputation as pioneers of dance music.

‘Group Therapy’, the trio’s weekly radio show, blends guest mixes with interviews and the finest ‘trance and progressive’ sounds, a combination which has won the group a loyal listeners from all over the world.

8. Carl Cox

Nine months ago and 722 episodes later, Carl Cox shocked the dance community when he announced the end to his legendary radio show ‘Global’.

Even so, the three-deck wizard still managed to rank in our top 10 most listened to dance profiles on Mixcloud in 2017, landing at number 8. Global might be no more, but it seems as though we just can’t get enough of Carl Cox.

7. Adam Beyer

Adam Beyer is without doubt one of the most formidable forces in dance music today.

His modern techno imprint, Drumcode, is recognised throughout the world as an authority on all things techno and his weekly radio show ‘Drumcode Radio’ treats fans to live recordings from Beyer’s seemingly endless globe-trotting tour.

6. Markus Schulz

Since Markus Schulz joined the platform, over 60 million minutes have been spent listening to his Global Radio Broadcast radio show on Mixcloud. To put it in perspective, that equates to over 114 years of non-stop music.

The numbers are phenomenal and go to show how the Miami-based DJ/producer has rightfully earned his place in trance royalty.

5. Nicole Moudaber

There’s no slowing down for Nicole Moudaber. 2017 has been a huge year for the unstoppable techno DJ and producer, with an insanely busy schedule taking her famous ‘MOOD’ brand all over the world.

Her weekly radio show ‘In The MOOD’, now in its third year, is just another example of why Nicole Moudaber is perhaps one of the most underrated DJs around today. Expect dark and ‘moody’ selections, whether recorded in the confines of a studio or live at one of Nicole’s many worldwide appearances.


Claiming the fourth spot in this year’s most listened to dance profiles on Mixcloud is DJ HACKs. The Tokyo-based DJ has become renowned for his yearly round-up of the biggest dance hits, from EDM and trance to house and future bass.

In fact, his ‘Best 2017 (So Far) Vol. 1’ mix was the third most listened to show on Mixcloud in 2017, which is no small feat for even the biggest names in the scene today.

3. Maestros Del Ritmo

Comprised of John Trend and the duo Dirty Nano, Maestros Del Ritmo are a Romanian collective currently taking the Mixcloud charts by storm with their monthly shows. The trio specialise in strictly the finest deep house and tech house, and clock up tens of millions of minutes on Mixcloud.

What’s more, their ‘Vol 23’ mix was the most listened to show on Mixcloud this year, which will help earn them even more loyal followers from around the globe.

2. DJ Stevie B

DJ Stevie B is proof, if ever it were needed, that you don’t need to be a superstar DJ to top the Mixcloud charts. Over 300 shows later, Germany-based Stevie B has captivated Mixcloud listeners with his eclectic blend of dance music, from melodic tech house to nu-disco.

With over 42,000 followers and counting, Stevie B’s rise to the top seems inevitable.

1. John Digweed

Taking home the number one spot in our most listened to dance profiles this year is UK veteran John Digweed. His weekly radio show, Transitions, is a staple in the dance community, broadcasting across 45 countries to a staggering weekly audience of 14 million.

This year, Digweed surpassed the 200,000 follower milestone on Mixcloud, making him one of the most followed artists on the platform. All the signs point to another successful year ahead, with Transitions destined to become the most listened to radio show on Mixcloud.

2017 had it all. The legendary Carl Cox called an end to his Global radio show, while the likes of NTS Radio continued to pioneer online radio with original shows such as ‘Radio Ghibli‘.

But which shows did you listen to the most in 2017? All is revealed below in our list of the overall top 10 most popular shows this year. This list is calculated based on the total minutes listened per show.

10. ‘The Block, Tel Aviv 22.09.2017’ by Richie Hawtin

ENTER boss and all-round techno pioneer, Richie Hawtin, shared this brilliant live recording of his set at The Block in Tel Aviv.

But don’t just take our word for it. Here’s what the Canadian DJ-producer had to say about the mix: “The night was a perfect synchronous moment between the audience and I, immersed together in warm frequencies emanating from a sound system impeccably curated by the clubs owner”.

Sounds about right to us.

9. ‘Global 722 – The Final Episode’ by Carl Cox

The three deck wizard shocked the dance community when he announced the end to his ground-breaking radio show, Global. But not all was lost because we were left with this seminal show with a track-list spanning three decades of music.

8. ‘Summertime Vol. 8’ by DJ Jazzy Jeff and MICK

DJ Jazzy Jeff and MICK’s ‘Summertime’ series is a highlight of the year for hip-hop heads all over the world. Volume 8 dropped at the start of July and immediately topped our charts, with its slick blend of retro and soulful vibes.

7. AMMONA Mix 2017′ by BZMR

With 60 minutes of non-stop club anthems and EDM hits; it’s no surprise this AMMONA show has racked up over 100,000 plays and climbed to the eight most-listened to show of 2017.

6. ’90s VS 2000s Hip Hop Mixtape My Favorite Rappers’ by DJ Vadim

You can always rely on DJ Vadim to deliver. A veteran of Mixcloud, the Russian-born producer-DJ is famous for his tight blends of reggae, hip-hop and anything that will make you bounce.

Tune into his ’90s VS 2000s’ mixtape to hear what all the fuss is about.

5. ‘February 2017 R&B & Hip Hop Mix’ by DJ P Montana

It’s been a phenomenal year for the London-based DJ, who has been a driving force behind the afrobeats sound sweeping over the capital.

His Mixcloud shows have become the definitive source for new R&B, afro-bashment and hip-hop, and show off his unrivalled skills as one of the finest selectors for today’s generation.

4. ‘Best of 2016 End of Year Mix’ by DJ Arvee and DJ Stylus

UK-based DJ Arvee and DJ Stylus teamed up for this special 2016 end of year show, featuring the biggest tracks in R&B, hip-hop, grime and house.

But topping the Mixcloud charts isn’t exactly a rarity for this prolific pair, with DJ Arvee and DJ Stylus both dropping mixes year-round that regularly feature in our No.1 spots.

3. ‘Best 2017 (So Far) Vol.1’ by DJ HACKs

Claiming third place in this year’s most listened to shows on Mixcloud is Japan’s DJ HACKs. Expect (some of) the year’s best uplifting pop and EDM from the Tokyo-based DJ, who has developed a keen ear for the sounds topping the pop charts all over the world.

2. ‘Summer 17 Mix’ by Nathan Dawe

When you’ve been booked to play in no less than five venues on NYE, you’re probably doing something right. Nathan Dawe is clearly a DJ in high demand and has built a solid reputation for delivering huge shows on Mixcloud, spanning house, grime and hip hop.

This ‘Summer 17’ show is a prime example of why all the hype is justified. Nathan mixes big bassline anthems with hip-hop re-edits and grime, helping him climb to the 2nd spot in this year’s most listened to shows.

1. ‘Vol 23’ by Maestros del Ritmo

No other mix has accumulated as many minutes on Mixcloud in 2017 as ‘Vol 23’ by the Romanian-based trio Maestros del Ritmo.

Comprised of John Trend and duo Dirty Nano, Maestros del Ritmo have amassed a dedicated following in their homeland, who have come to expect the biggest deep house and tech house floor-fillers from the trio.

This show features some of the year’s biggest dance anthems, from the likes of Martin Garrix, Axwell and Clean Bandit. Congratulations Maestros del Ritmo!
