Mixcloud Online Radio Awards 2016

Mixcloud are pleased to have launch the third edition of the Online Radio Awards celebrating the best in online radio from around the world!

You can nominate yourself or a show, person or station you rate for any of the 4 main categories and the winners are chosen by a public and industry panel.

Voting closes at Midnight GMT on Sunday 23rd October.

We will award 27 winners across a number of categories and territories. There will also be 4 overall winners for Best Online Music Show, Best Online Talk Show, Best Online Radio Station and Best Online Radio Personality.

Stefan Möller – President of Association Of European Radios
Stefan has worked with radio for over 30 years in several positions including creative, sales, marketing and management. Stefan is now the CEO of trade body RadioMedia in Finland and the president of AER (Association Of European Radios) based in Brussels.

Tarun Katial – CEO of Reliance Broadcast Network Limited
With an experience of over 20 years in the industry, Mr Tarun Katial has been instrumental in revolutionising the media and entertainment landscape in India. He is credited for creating iconic and clutter breaking content across television and radio.

Emma Warren – Journalist and Editor
Emma Warren has been writing about music since her friends set up cult dance music magazine Jockey Slut. She has made documentaries about nightclubs for the BBC and was a judge on the Mercury Prize on four occasions. She’s now presenting radio on Worldwide FM.

DJ Skee – DJ & Dash Radio Founder
Scott DJ Skee Keeney is a world renowned radio DJ, host of Skee TV, and founder of Dash Radio – a curator-led digital broadcast platform that ‘merges the best of terrestrial and internet radio.

Hugo & Orpheu – RedLight Radio Founders
Founders of Red Light Radio, the online radio station broadcasting from the heart of Amsterdam’s Red Light District since 2010, and winners of the Best Station award in 2015.

Matty is a writer, musician and music programmer who used to do things at MTV and now is the curator of MusicREDEF.

Timmy Byrne – Owner / Manager Kiss FM, Australia
Timmy Byrne’s DJ career spans some 30 plus years. As owner/manager of Kiss FM – Dance Music Australia, Timmy has an extensive knowledge of both the Australian and International dance music culture.

Georgia Taglietti – Working for Advanced Music / Sonar from 1995
As the Communications & Digital Director she develops and implements the brand message across all communication channels specially on the social networks and international level as well as developing an effective PR & marketing strategy.

One of the earliest mixcloud users, Julien is now digital manager for Bel RTL and Radio Contact, market leading french speaking Belgian radio stations.

Xanthe Fuller – Head of Community at Mixcloud
Before joining the team Xanthe worked as a Radio Producer at BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, 6Music and Radio 2 producing the likes of Pete Tong, Mary Anne Hobbs and Rob da Bank. Her love and knowledge of radio runs deep.

How do you define online radio?
Radio that is made available over the Internet, typically accessible globally over multiple devices – from laptop to smartphone, IP connected radio to connected TV and beyond. For the purposes of these Awards, online radio shows and stations are those whose predominant means of distribution is via the Internet.

How do I get involved?

If you have a radio show or radio station, you can nominate yourself and get your fans/listeners to nominate you. We encourage you to do both!
If you are a listener, get involved by nominating the shows and stations you love.

What are the eligibility criteria to enter?

The focus of these awards is on independent shows and stations whose primary means of distribution is via the Internet.
For example if you are an independent station with a local broadcast as well as an online presence, you are eligible. However if you are a large commercial station with millions of terrestrial listeners and a supplementary online presence, you are not eligible.
For radio shows, if you have an independent show that is available online and syndicated to terrestrial radio stations, you are eligible. However if your show is primarily produced for terrestrial broadcast, you are not eligible.
Our panel of expert judges will discuss the nominations and decide the eventual winners.

How many times can I vote?
You can vote for as multiple shows and stations in as many categories as you want. However do not vote for the same show or station more than once – we will be able to tell from the results and remove any spam voters.

How will it be judged and what are the important dates?
There are 2 steps that will determine the eventual winner.
Public Vote: deadline at 23:59 GMT 23 October 2016
Industry Panel Vote: Winner announced after 28 October 2016

Prizes
The 12 category winners for Best Online Music Show, the 8 category winners for Best Online Talk Show, the 5 category winners for Best Online Radio Station Station and the 2 winners for the Best Online Radio Personality will win acknowledgement and promotion online through the awards as well as the love, admiration and respect of their peers.
