This is where we celebrate the Mixcloud Masters, the most dedicated and successful curators on Mixcloud.
Nicole Moudaber is an event promoter, record label founder, radio host, and one of the most passionately followed DJ/producers in the world. She uploads her In The MOOD radio show to Mixcloud weekly and is fast becoming one of our most popular curators.
Here’s what she had to say about Mixcloud and her shows:
Tell the Mixcloud community about your Mixcloud profile and how it got started.
I’ve been a supporter of Mixcloud from the very beginning of my career. I thought it was an amazing platform to discover new mixes across all genres and I wanted a piece of the action. When I launched my weekly radio show, In the MOOD, there was no question where I wanted it’s home to be online.
How long have you been doing the cloudcasts, and what do you hope to achieve with them?
In the MOOD Radio is already two years old but my first uploads go back to 2011 – time does fly. I want people to hear what I’m about and understand I love all music. I am known most for Techno but the radio shows allow me to surprise people. Sometimes I’m in the MOOD to go deep, sometimes it’s really chilled….and sometimes……..the beast is unleashed and it’s pounding 4AM techno.
Having a radio show allows my personality to come through and I try to make it appeal to music lovers who might not usually listen to such an underground music show. The IDs and liners we use are now so famous everywhere I go around the world people show me tattoos of things we say on the show. We have a feature called ‘The Hair Raiser’, a tune so big it makes my hair stand on end, and I have a lot of hair so it has to be BIG and after the very first show aired someone sent me a photo of this huge tattoo of me with the words ‘HAIR RAISER’. Incredible.
I love all the messages I get from the Mixcloud community too – I’ve even met many of them in person now, so keep them coming.
Do you have a few favourites or recommendations from the series? What makes them special?
We’ve done two live episodes from my moodDAY parties held every year during Miami Music Week.
Last year Skin from Skunk Anansie co-presented which was fun:
…and I’m always joined by ‘the voice’ of the show, Hosie Neal, who is an amazing singer you need to check out too.
What can we expect in the future from you and your forthcoming shows?
A very special release, BREED the RMXS, came out on my label MOOD last Friday, featuring an extensive list of producers, possibly one of the biggest remix packages to date. The remixes were all done by close friends of mine Carl Craig, Jamie Jones, Pan-Pot, Scuba, Skin, Paco Osuna and Fur Coat to name a few. To tie in with that, my latest InTheMOOD radio show is a BREED the RMXS special compilation featuring all the tracks:
