This year we decided to things a bit differently and pick the most popular content on Mixcloud around a certain music category.
Our community loves music to relax to and so we decided to celebrate it by putting our top 25 curators under the spotlight. Ranging from chillout, to ambient, to lounge, to cosmic deep sounds, we present to you Best of 2014: Ambient & Chilout.

Maybe next year I do better 🙂
You already perfect Guido, continue as you did, best, Axel
Thank you Axel, glad I’m on the right track.. this would be a nice “cream on the cake” , but it’s like it is.. still happy with what I’m doing.. thanks for this uplifting comment Axel!!!! Btw… congratulation on your 20th place on the list !! You deserve it 🙂
Sorry Mixcloud, but needs someone who knows about math.
This list is a disgrace, as someone who is in 5-place, which copies the mixs of the Café del mar on you tube, is on the front of the Café del Mar.
Yes, just for laugh, this ranking is a farce.
Hi Xaviagain
We already had been notified of this issue, are looking into it to take the necessary steps and have adjusted our list in the mean time.
We take these kind of things very seriously and monitor our platform thoroughly, but sometimes something slips through the net unfortunately. So we very much appreciate alertness from our users and followers in that regard.
thanks a lot my friend Guido for this awesome blog !!
Thank you for the kudos YoanDelipe… but it’s not my blog.. it’s Mixclouds blog 🙂 But I know they will read it.. and will be happy as well 🙂
[…] week my good friend, work colleague and Sterefox team member Thomas (AKA zuurb) was listed in Mixcloud‘s Best of 2014 Ambient/Chillout selection and there’s a very good reason for […]
thanks, it is an honor to be in this list, will try to do more ambient this year then 🙂
Yes my friend, and you deserve it!!!
I hate reading extensive posts, simply because i’ve got some dislexia, but i
actually loved this post
I think these rankings are bullshit.I don’t know on what basis they do their rankings. How can I be on 5th place, when I upload a mix 3 days ago and have 32 listeners and the next guy on place 6 uploads a mix 2 days ago and has 86 listeners?
Unless they take overall ratings of all categories the mix is listed in?
But I think we should be grateful to get the opportunity to showcase and share our work with people from all over the planet. And are rankings that important? It’s nice to see how many like it,reading the comments and getting the feel of where one stands, but I don’t pay that much attention to rankings. What’s more important to me is feedback and to see how many followers I have.
I think Mixcloud does a great job! It’s easy to use and it’s very fast uploading.I never had problems with it!
And there’ll always be wankers who copy other guys mixes and post them as their own.It ain’t nice, but they’ll have to face the music one day!
Hello Danny, for your info, the main metric we used for our rankings is the total number of listening minutes – which is only visible to Pro users – alongside things like number of plays, followers etc. It’s called the ‘listener engagement score’. I know it might be a bit confusing but unless you have a Pro account you won’t see those stats.
I’m happy to hear you are still enjoying our platform and can only encourage you to keep up the good vibes!
