Competition: Channel 4 Athletics Soundtrack

Attention all music enthusiasts!

This is your chance to work with Channel 4 and Mixcloud on a special music project.

Channel 4 are on the look out for music enthusiasts who are serious about getting into the music industry. If you are a DJ, selector, music supervisor or urban music fan this one’s definitely for you.

Channel 4 will be broadcasting the UK coverage of the World Athletics Championships 2011, held in South Korea. They’ve created an awesome opportunity to put together an 8-track playlist representing the sounds of world class athletes;

Usain “Lightning Bolt” Bolt
Jeremy Wariner
David Rudisha
Phillips Idowu
Mo Farah
Jodie Williams

A panel of industry experts will be selecting 6 winning playlists to feature on Channel 4’s official athletics microsite and you’ll win the opportunity to work with the Channel 4 team to select a track for their vignette transmissions.

This is the very first collaboration of its kind in the UK, commissioned through C4’s Alpha Fund, a dedicated £2m pot of money for emergent, creatively diverse companies.

Director of Creative Diversity, Stuart Cosgrove, stated “this is an exciting new venture, and a totally new way of working with creative companies deemed outside the usual remit of the television industry in order to source  bleeding edge music that no music supervisor from a record label would find or champion. Essentially we’re enhancing our coverage of the IAAF world athletics championship with music that will feel really fresh, and stylise it in a way that only Channel 4 could do.”
