You may recall back in November and December we held a massive competition with BlackBerry Torch, Mixmag/DSI, Platform and Drowned in Sound.
The three partner sites created some top quality Cloudcasts on behalf of BlackBerry for your audio pleasure. Including exclusive content from the likes of Matador Records, Herve, Crazy P, Mount Kimbie, Africa Hitech and many more. You can check out all the exclusive mixes on the “Blackberry Torch Presents” tag station right here.
Alongside all this great content, the 3 partner sites ran competitions for both “mix lovers” (listeners) and “mix makers” (DJs) in association with BlackBerry. We are delighted to announce the winners.
Mixmag & DSI:
The mix maker prize (a BlackBerry Torch handset, an exclusive DJ set at a Mixmag party in London and exposure in the magazine) goes to Middlesbrough’s Disturbed Beats for a fantastic mix of jackin’ house and cut-up vocals.
The mix lover prize for “sharing and caring” goes to Spooky. He bags himself a pair of Bose Tri-Port In-Ear Headphones and a night of great music and free booze at That Mixmag Thing.
Drowned in Sound:
The mix maker prize goes to DMAX for his wonderful journey “through moods and marvels” – soulstep to classic house and beyond. He wins himself a Pacemaker handheld DJ device.
The mix lover “sharing” prize goes to true indie music fan Albert Alksnitis from Nottingham – a BlackBerry Torch handset and £100 to spend in Rough Trade shops. Awesome.
Platform:
Mix maker prize goes to JWalk from Manchester for his expertly executed journey through jazz, soul and hip-hop – a very interesting and mature mix indeed. He wins a guest session at a future Boiler Room and some exclusive tees.
The mix lover prize goes to Jignesh Taylor from Rugby. He can expect a BlackBerry Torch handset, 2 invites to the Boiler Room and some exclusive T-Shirt Party x Boiler Room T-Shirts.
Phew! That’s a lot of prizes and a lot of lucky winners!
Big thanks to all of the partners involved in helping pull this together but most importantly to all you passionate mix makers and mix lovers for getting involved.
Keep your eyes peeled for lots more exciting competitions to be launched on Mixcloud in 2011.
