Last Saturday afternoon saw the first ever Mixcloud Meet-up take place on the lovely terrace of the Big Chill House, London. The event was a massive success, so first up, big love to all of you that came, all the DJs that spun and to those sky-dwelling clouds for not raining on our parade too much…
The day got started with community favourites DJs in PJs spinning their usual flavour of laid back soul and bumping hip hop, before Celebration of Curation revelations, WhoSampled.com DJs, kicked back with some breaks from the Old School.
Following up were storming sets from Kill ‘Em All stalwarts stopmakingme and Filthy Dukes before we headed back to hip hop with DMC Team Champ DJ Cable for a lesson in turntablism.
With the clouds still holding out and the terrace bumping, who better than Bok Bok to turn up the bass to dangerous levels before headliners Oneman and Martelo killed it back to back.
Special mention to those that came and made friends with the animal costumes aka the Mixcloud Family. A big shout out must also go to Rez for becoming the world’s first breakdancing penguin. Keep your eyes peeled for the photos over the next few days, along with live Cloudcasts from the event.
Finally, whether you came or not, thanks for being such a great community in such a short space of time. We’re already looking forward to the next meet-up.
Onwards and upwards!
