For the last month or so, we’ve been running two DJ mix competitions with Stag & Dagger Festival and Braindrop @ Matter, for a chance to win a set at both events.

Each competition has seen a number of high quality entries, and the judges have been working hard to pick the winners over the last week. After much deliberation here’s who they’ve picked…

BRAINDROP @ MATTER DJ MIX COMPETITION

DJ Vesper (aka Lee Smart) wins the Braindrop competition with:

And here’s what our man Chris at Braindrop had to say about this mix:

“Big up Lee. His mix was our favourite journey of the lot, and kept us gripped right till the end. Starting with a brilliant opening track (which we might just have to pinch for our Glastonbury festival set), the mix heads on a colourful, carnival, summer vibes journey though bass with real mash up vibe. Tight mixing throughout – no clashing bassline or melodies and conscious eq’ing.”

You can get more details about this competition over at the Braindrop blog including a mention on the very hot second place mix from LA Boxers and links through to more details on the whole event @ Matter and ticket info.

STAG & DAGGER FESTIVAL DJ MIX COMPETITION

Murdock takes the S&D competition with:

“Murdock’s entry – it’s a stunning mix of forward-thinking future-garage and minimal dub, with smatterings of 2-Step and UK Funky that give it the perfect vibes for ushering in the summer (again)! The tracklist reads as a who’s who of emerging UK talent, with original tracks and remixes from the likes of Deadboy, Doc Daneeka and Boogaloo Crew, coupled with several heavyweight tunes from veterans like Todd Edwards and MJ Cole. Murdock brings it all together with the verve and confidence of a seasoned pro, with flawless and often-understated mixing keeping the beats flowing from beginning to end.” – Stag & Dagger blog

Thanks to both crews for hosting their competitions with Mixcloud, good luck with the events and hopefully see you there! x
