In case you haven’t noticed, Mixcloud is now live!

Rez‘s enormous countdown was counting down to the magic moment of midday GMT, Monday 21st September, when we tore down the walls to the site, so to speak.

At exactly midday, we put out the following tweet:

Who could’ve predicted what would happen next. Thanks to all our amazing community (seriously, thank you!), this single tweet turned into a tidal wave of re-tweets. Within 20 minutes we somehow found ourselves taking up 4 of the top 10 trending topics on Twitter. If you’ve got no idea what we’re talking about, that basically means for about an hour, people round the world were talking about Mixcloud almost as much as Jay-Z!

Unfortunately our attempt to trend:
#yoJayZImmaLetYouFinnishButMixCloudHadOneOfTheBestTrendingTopicsEver
wasn’t quite so successful! I think we might have got interrupted by Kanye.

Thanks also to all the journalists and bloggers who wrote such glowing reviews. Too many to list, but they include TechCrunch, Music Ally, Music Week, Revolution Magazine, Real Business, Knowledge Magazine, Hear 2.0 and many more.

It’s been an awesome and frantic week since launch – we’ll update you on some of the cool things that have been happening on Mixcloud in later posts.

Have an lovely weekend, here are a few Cloudcasts to help you get ready for it!

Dubstep, tech house and UK funky from the talented Dubbel Dutch from Austin, Texas. Check out the great Curb Crawlers blog that he writes for.

Glitchy hip-hop and wonky beats (if you understand that!) from Germany’s Paul Pre.

Deep house from London’s 54 Music record label.
