We’ve made some major updates to the site that we’re pretty excited about. They’re all about making Mixcloud more social! So if you haven’t been to the site for a while, now’s a great time to check back and see what’s new. There’s lots of great new content as well, of course.
COMMENTING
One of the most requested features on our feedback forum has been messaging other users. We have now added a public messaging system which allows you to leave comments/messages on people’s profile pages.
When you receive a new profile message you will be notified by email. And of course you can amend your notification settings by going to “account” in the top right and clicking on “notifications”.
LISTENING HISTORY
Now when you visit someone’s profile page on Mixcloud, you’ll see a list on the right of the 10 most recent Cloudcasts they’ve listened to. A great way to discover new content.
In keeping with the theme of making Mixcloud more social, when you visit a Cloudcast page you can see who has favourited that Cloudcast, who has listened to it and other Cloudcasts by that person.
WIDGET
We thought we’d save the best for last. We’re very excited to have our lovely embeddable widget finished and ready for you all to share to your heart’s content.
On every Cloudcast page you will see an “embed” icon on the top right next to the lovely heart. Click this and the widget control panel will pop up with the code you need to embed the widget anywhere, from your blog to your website to your MySpace page.
There is also an embed icon on the widget itself, so once you embed the widget on a 3rd party site, it can easily be re-shared by your fans and listeners. Watch this space for a separate blog post about the widget – with some examples of who’s using it and advice on making the most of it to promote yourself most effectively.
We hope you like the new social additions to Mixcloud and we look forward to hearing your continued feedback.
