Hip Hop – The Overtime Man

Packed full on 90′s Hip Hop heat, The Overtime Man has come up with the awesome concept of recreating some of the those old compilation tapes/mixtapes you would make for your friends back in the day.

There isn’t any turntable trickery here, just a great selection of classic tunes, ranging from The Pharcyde and Ahmad, to the leftfield sounds of Kool Keith/Dr. Octagon. Extra kudos goes to The Overtime Man for including The Beatnuts’ “Hellraiser” too. Respect!

In the context of the cutthroat, dog-eat-dog world of the online magazine, the self proclaimed “uncommercial” online music ‘zine Raw Investigations is a breath of fresh air music. Who said that students don’t do anything worthwhile? Whoever blathered that particular piece of tripe had obviously never listened Hedd Thomas’s Unity World Radio Show. With a name like that he was practically guaranteed to be a brilliant DJ. (Good thinking Dad. Mum wanted to call him Arnold.) “United World Radio plays an eclectic mix of ‘World Music’ from all around the globe, from traditional, folk and court music through to jazz, pop, dance and beyond.”

Dubstep / Bass – The Daily Street

We’ve written about The Daily Street’s Cloudcast mix series before on Mixcloud Monday, but we’re going to keep doing it until everybody realises how right we are about how good they are. The latest mix comes from the Boogaloo Crew, aka Dark Sky. Our Dubstep / Bass Ambassadors report that “they are TEARING it up at the moment with their brand of lovely ‘liquid’ dubstep, with a smooth slant on bass pressure.” We’re inclined to agree.

Kicking things off we’ve got this mix from DJ Escape for North West Drum and Bass. “Originally recorded for his missus (awwwww) and a 100% vinyl set, this mix is. Big. In. The. Game.”

Electronica – FACT Mix Archive

I’m sure we’ve mentioned this before, but FACT are hosting their mix archives exclusively up on the Cloud. For the latest archive session, New York-based Night Slugger, Kingdom, steps up to the plate.

Funk / Soul – DJ Hadopi

French spinner of all things funky brings the groovement with this cloudcast. From Shepdog to B-Team; Skeewiff to Malente. Dig this.

Hip Hop – Collective Resonance

Blog and net-label Collective Resonance dig the underground with this beats mix of unreleased joints from French producer Jalal Dunkley. Nice and smooth.

House – Third Floor Productions

A Derby based production label representing some of the freshest artists from the area dig deep with this second installment of DJ Stefanos’ mighty “Nightdrive: Episodes in Techno”.

Indie – Elektritter

An East London, living-room based label sharing new music they are passionate about. There’s some cracking tracks here.

Jazz / Ambient – ambientblog

This cloudcast, from Dutch blog ‘ambientblog’, was especially mixed for X-Rated: a weekly three hour radio show on Dutch alternative music radio channel, Kink FM.

Reggae Dancehall – Tune In

“The Sunomonto Crew presents: TUNE IN!“  A weekly dose of reggae-music from Chemnitz/Germany on Big Vibez, the 24/7 Online-Reggae-Radio.

World – Podcast Pirata

This so-called ‘Pirate Party’ was born earlier this year in Mexico, allegedly uniting Cumbia, Reggaeton, Raverton, Guaracha, Hip Hop and Ghettotech. Sounds too good to be true. I guess there’s only one way to find out.

Dubstep / Bass – Greymatter

Last, but certainly not least, we have this from bass pioneer, Greymatter. Listen below to a cloudcast originally put together for Musique Large, and featuring some of the best deep beats currently being peddled.
